Structural Steel Grades (IS 2062)
IS 2062 covers hot-rolled structural steel. Grade sets the yield strength, which sizes the required section.
| Grade | Old designation | Min yield (approx.) |
|---|---|---|
| E250 | Fe410 | 250 MPa |
| E300 | Fe440 | 300 MPa |
| E350 | Fe490 | 350 MPa |
| E410 | Fe540 | 410 MPa |
| E450 | Fe570 | 450 MPa |
Yield strength reduces slightly for thicker sections per IS 2062. E250 and E350 are the most common in solar and structural steelwork.
Frequently asked questions
- What is the most common structural steel grade?
- E250 (Fe410); E350 (Fe490) is used where higher strength allows lighter sections.
