Steel Weight Calculator
Short answer
Steel weight = length × width × thickness × 7850 kg/m³. Enter plate dimensions to get weight per piece and total.
Weight per plate157kg
Total weight157kg
Formula
Weight (kg) = Length (m) × Width (m) × Thickness (mm) ÷ 1000 × 7850
How it works
Structural steel has a density of about 7850 kg/m³. For a plate, multiply its volume by the density. For sections, use the section's cross-sectional area × length × density.
Worked example
A 2 m × 1 m × 10 mm plate weighs 2 × 1 × 0.01 × 7850 = 157 kg.
