PM-KUSUM Solar Pump Structures: A Practical Guide

PM-KUSUM is a national scheme to solarise agricultural pumping and support farmer incomes. For structure makers and installers, the relevant part is the mounting structure that carries the modules for standalone and grid-connected solar pumps.

The scheme in brief

PM-KUSUM has components covering ground-mounted plants on farmland, standalone solar pumps and the solarisation of existing grid-connected pumps. Each involves a module mounting structure engineered for the site.

What the structure must do

The pump mounting structure holds the modules at the right tilt and height, resisting the site's wind loads under IS 875 with a durable coating for rural, often dusty, conditions.

ENSOL's solar pump structures are designed to PM-KUSUM requirements, with independent proof-checking (for example by NIT Raipur) where required.

Frequently asked questions

Do PM-KUSUM structures need proof-checking?
Programme requirements often call for independent structural proof-checking; ENSOL provides proof-checked designs where needed.
