What is a Solar Pump Structure?
A solar pump structure is the galvanised steel mounting that carries the PV modules powering a solar water pump. It holds the array at the correct tilt and height to drive borewell, surface or pole-mounted pumps for irrigation and water supply — rigid, corrosion-resistant and built for the field.
Why it is used
It replaces diesel and grid pumping with free solar energy. For dependable daily pumping the array must stay perfectly oriented and stable through wind, sun and years of outdoor exposure — which is exactly what a properly engineered steel structure delivers.
Advantages
Hot-dip galvanised / GI corrosion resistance, high-wind design, quick bolt-together installation, minimal maintenance and a 25-year-plus service life — a one-time structure for decades of free water.
Working principle
Modules mounted on the structure generate DC power that feeds the pump controller, which drives the borewell or surface pump. The structure keeps the array at its optimal fixed tilt so daily generation — and therefore water output — stays high.
Industry applications
Agricultural irrigation, rural and community water supply, livestock and dairy farms, horticulture, and government programmes such as PM-KUSUM across on- and off-grid sites.

Types of solar pump structures
Borewell Solar Pump Structure
Compact, rigid mounting sited beside the bore to power submersible borewell pumps — the most common format for deep-water irrigation.
Surface Pump Structure
Stable ground-mounted frame for surface and monobloc pumps drawing from tanks, canals, ponds and open wells.
Pole Mounted Pump Structure
Array mounted high on a single galvanised pole — a small footprint, theft-resistant height, ideal for scattered farm plots.
Engineered advantages
Corrosion Resistant GI
Hot-dip galvanised / GI steel that resists rust in wet field conditions.
High Wind Design
Engineered and checked for site wind loads per IS 875.
Easy Installation
Pre-fabricated, bolt-together assembly for fast on-site erection.
Optimal Fixed Tilt
Set to the site latitude for maximum daily generation.
Heavy Duty Steel
Robust sections sized for module, wind and dust loads.
Low Maintenance
Galvanised steel needs minimal upkeep across its life.
Flexible Configurations
Borewell, surface or pole layouts for any pump.
Long Service Life
25+ years of dependable outdoor performance.

Solar pumps, answered
Common questions from farmers, panchayats, EPCs and government departments.
It is the galvanised steel mounting that holds the solar panels powering a water pump, keeping the array at the right tilt and height to run borewell, surface or pole-mounted pumps.
Three main types — borewell (for submersible pumps), surface (for monobloc / surface pumps), and pole-mounted (array on a single galvanised pole).
A borewell structure sits beside the bore and powers a submersible pump deep in the ground; a surface structure powers a pump that draws from tanks, canals, ponds or open wells at ground level.
It has a very small footprint, raises the array out of easy reach for security, and suits scattered or small farm plots where a ground frame isn't practical.
Yes. They are hot-dip galvanised / GI to IS 4759, engineered for the wet, humid conditions around irrigation and water sources.
Yes. Every design includes site-specific wind-load analysis per IS 875 so the array stays stable and productive.
From around 1 kW up to 15 kW and beyond, sized to your pump's rating and daily water requirement.
A fixed tilt of roughly 15°–30°, set to your site's latitude to maximise daily generation and water output.
Structures are pre-fabricated and bolt together on site, so erection is fast with basic tools and minimal civil work.
Yes. ENSOL structures suit PM-KUSUM and other subsidised solar-pump programmes for agriculture and rural water supply.
Very little — galvanised steel is essentially maintenance-free structurally; occasional panel cleaning and a periodic bolt check are all that's typical.
Yes. Structures ship marked and documented, and ENSOL provides on-site guidance for safe assembly and alignment.
