PM-KUSUM Scheme Explained

ENSOL Engineering TeamPublished 2026-02-201 min read

PM-KUSUM is a national scheme to solarise agricultural pumping and support farmer incomes, spanning ground-mounted farm plants, standalone solar pumps and the solarisation of grid-connected pumps.

The components

The scheme covers farm-based solar plants, standalone solar pumps and solarising existing grid-connected pumps — each needing a site-engineered mounting structure.

Structural requirements

Pump structures must resist site wind loads under IS 875 with durable coatings for rural conditions. ENSOL provides proof-checked designs (e.g. by NIT Raipur) where required.

Frequently asked questions

Do PM-KUSUM structures need proof-checking?
Programme requirements often call for independent structural proof-checking, which ENSOL provides.
