Wind Load Calculator (IS 875)
Short answer
Design wind pressure pz = 0.6 × Vz², where Vz = Vb × k1 × k2 × k3 × k4. Enter the basic wind speed and factors.
Design wind speed Vz44m/s
Design wind pressure pz1,161.6N/m²
Design wind pressure pz1.162kN/m²
Per IS 875 (Part 3): Vz = Vb·k1·k2·k3·k4, pz = 0.6·Vz². Force/pressure coefficients then apply for the array.
Formula
Vz = Vb × k1 × k2 × k3 × k4 · pz = 0.6 × Vz² (N/m²)
How it works
IS 875 (Part 3) converts a site's basic wind speed into a design pressure via risk (k1), terrain/height (k2), topography (k3) and importance/cyclonic (k4) factors. Pressure grows with the square of speed.
Worked example
For Vb = 44 m/s with all factors 1: Vz = 44 m/s, pz = 0.6 × 44² = 1,162 N/m².
