Solar Panel Tilt Angle Calculator
Short answer
A good year-round tilt is roughly equal to your latitude; tilt latitude − 15° favours summer, latitude + 15° favours winter.
Year-round tilt (≈ latitude)21°
Summer-optimised (lat − 15°)6°
Winter-optimised (lat + 15°)36°
Formula
Year-round tilt ≈ latitude · Summer ≈ latitude − 15° · Winter ≈ latitude + 15°
How it works
Setting the tilt near the site latitude balances generation across the year. Lowering it captures more summer sun; raising it favours winter, when the sun is lower.
Worked example
At 21° latitude (central India), a fixed year-round tilt of about 21° works well.
