Roof Load Calculator (Solar Dead Load)
Short answer
Dead load = module weight/m² + structure weight/m². Wind and imposed loads are additional.
Total dead load20kg/m²
Total dead load196.2N/m²
Dead load only — wind uplift and imposed loads are additional and combined per IS 875.
Formula
Dead load (kg/m²) = module weight/m² + structure weight/m² · × 9.81 for N/m²
How it works
The dead load is the permanent weight of modules and mounting steel per square metre. Wind uplift and imposed (access) loads are combined with it per IS 875.
Worked example
Modules 12 kg/m² + structure 8 kg/m² = 20 kg/m² ≈ 196 N/m² dead load.
Frequently asked questions
- Is dead load the only load on a roof?
