Solar Structure Cost Guide (What Drives Price)

ENSOL Engineering TeamPublished 2026-03-011 min read

Solar structure price is driven by measurable factors. Understanding them lets you compare quotes fairly rather than on headline price. (ENSOL provides project-specific quotations — email business@powerensol.com.)

What drives the cost

The main cost drivers are steel weight (design and grade), coating type and thickness (GP vs HDGI/ZAM), foundation type (soil-driven), wind/seismic zone (heavier design in higher zones) and quantity.

Comparing quotes fairly

Normalise quotes by coating thickness and design basis. A cheaper quote with thinner coating or generic design is not comparable to a site-engineered, fully-galvanised one.

Frequently asked questions

Why do quotes vary so much?
Mostly coating thickness and design basis. Compare like-for-like — thin-coated or generic-designed structures look cheaper but cost more over life.
