Solar Structure Tender Documentation: A Checklist

Clear tender documentation makes bids comparable and projects compliant. For solar structures, the specification should pin down standards, coating, design basis and testing.

What to specify

State the applicable codes (IS 875 wind, IS 1893 seismic, IS 2062 steel, IS 4759/ISO 1461 galvanising), the coating type and minimum thickness, the design wind speed basis, and any proof-checking requirement.

Testing and QA

Ask for documented steel grade, coating thickness (NABL-tested where possible), and relevant type-test certificates. This keeps bids honest and comparable.

Frequently asked questions

Why specify coating thickness in the tender?
Because service life depends on it — specifying minimum thickness prevents under-coated, short-lived structures winning on price alone.
