Steel Towers that Carry the Grid — 33 kV to 765 kV

ENSOL designs and fabricates lattice and tubular transmission line towers — suspension, tension, angle, dead-end and special crossing types — hot-dip galvanised to IS 802 for utilities and EPC contractors across India.

Overview

What is a transmission tower?

A transmission line tower is the steel backbone of the power grid — a tall lattice or tubular structure that holds overhead conductors and earth wires at safe clearances across long distances. ENSOL has fabricated this steel since 1981, for lines from 33 kV sub-transmission up to 765 kV EHV.

Where it's used

Inter-state transmission, renewable evacuation, railway corridors and EPC line packages.

Why ENSOL

Four decades of grid steel, in-house galvanising and IS 802 engineering under one ISO 9001 system.

Applications

Conventional power, solar & wind evacuation, and river / railway crossings.

Advantages

Hot-dip galvanised durability, tested designs and full documentation with every consignment.

Tower Types

Six tower families, one engineering system

Suspension Towers

Tangent towers that carry the conductor in a straight line, supporting vertical and wind loads along the route.

Tension Towers

Angle towers that take up conductor tension where the line changes direction.

Angle Towers

Engineered for line deviation angles, balancing transverse loads at bends in the route.

Dead End Towers

Anchor towers that terminate the line at substations or section ends, taking full one-sided pull.

River Crossing Towers

Tall special towers spanning rivers with extended height and heavy loading.

Railway Crossing Towers

Towers engineered to clear railway corridors with the required vertical clearance.

FAQ

Transmission towers, answered

Common questions from utilities, transcos and EPC contractors.

A transmission line tower is a tall steel structure that supports overhead conductors and earth wires, holding them at safe electrical clearances above ground across long distances. ENSOL fabricates lattice and tubular transmission towers from 33 kV to 765 kV, hot-dip galvanised for decades of grid service.

ENSOL manufactures suspension (tangent) towers, tension (angle) towers, angle towers, dead-end (anchor) towers, special river-crossing towers and railway-crossing towers — each engineered for its specific line-routing and loading requirement.

Transmission towers are fabricated for the full spectrum from 33 kV sub-transmission up to 765 kV EHV lines, covering conventional power, renewable-energy evacuation and railway corridors.

Towers use structural steel angles and sections to IS 2062, designed per IS 802, and are hot-dip galvanised — 86 micron standard coating and 130 micron marine-grade for high-corrosion environments — for long maintenance-free life.

Yes. ENSOL operates an ISO 9001 system with NABL-accredited galvanising tests, and supplies utility- and EPC-approved towers with material test certificates, galvanising reports and, where specified, full-scale tower testing.

Yes. Tall river-crossing and railway-crossing towers are engineered to the specific span, clearance and loading of the crossing, with extensions and special bracing detailed to project drawings.
